E4 is the sister channel from channel 4 and is aimed at 15 - 35 year olds. Shows on the E4 channel are varied from drama to comedy to reality which include shows such as Friends, Lost, Hollyoaks, Big Brother, Glee, Desperate Housewives and many more.
E4 is notoriously known for it's dry humour and even at times poking fun at the shows they aire.
Quotes that the narrator uses at times are
"second chance Sunday - not just a bunch of repeats - honest"
"Coming to you, straight into your tellybox"
You can see that E4 tries to cater to a wide audience by showing comedy, drama, reality shows and you can see that although the channel has all these variety of shows E4's brand image is quite humorous which they convey through the adverts and narration.
Also looking at the brand image you can see that the colour purple is an important factor in the image and used throughout there adverts/idents and the idents usually shown on the channel vary from comedy to abstract however in more recent times idents shown on the channel are more to the abstract style.
My aim for this project is to create an E4 ident that conveys the brand image such as humorous, abstract and the usage of mandatory objectives such as the color purple and the tone of the ident.
E4 holds a competition annually for anyone to enter where you can submit your animations for the ident and i have included the link below so that you can see previous winners that have been aired on the E4 channel and other idents that have been submitted, this will help me to see what E4 liked about the idents and what they tend to go or so hopefully that will give me an indication of what my animation should incorporate and what i should consider.

From the idents i have viewed you can see that the animations are either humour based or abstracted based which means that for the humour based animations the story has a humour narrative to follow and the abstract based animations have no real story to follow they can be a mixture of images and animations thrown together.
